The STACK Model™
For parents, caregivers, and professionals who want to understand what may be driving overwhelm and how to respond with more context.
Learn / Explore / Understand
Explore science-informed ideas about neurodivergence, everyday demands, and capacity. You do not need a diagnosis or a particular starting point to begin learning.
Two people can show the same behavior for very different reasons. Context matters. So do sensory needs, cognitive demands, emotions, relationships, physical well-being, and the environment. The goal is to get curious about what is happening before deciding what support might help.
Understanding Load
We all carry different demands. Sensory, cognitive, emotional, social, physical, and environmental loads can accumulate. When the total load exceeds available capacity, behavior and access to skills may change.
For parents, caregivers, and professionals who want to understand what may be driving overwhelm and how to respond with more context.
For children and teens learning to recognize the demands they are carrying, notice when their capacity changes, and communicate what helps.
Rebuilding Capacity
When overload or burnout has narrowed a person's capacity, doing more is not always the next step. Relief, recovery, repair, and reintegration offer a way to think about supporting capacity over time.
Explore a framework for recognizing depletion, reducing ongoing pressure, and gradually rebuilding sustainable participation.
For children, teens, and families navigating overload, shutdown, or burnout while rebuilding participation at a workable pace.
The frameworks are starting points. Inside Here's What We Can Do™, you can explore guided Learning Center experiences, teaching, resources, the Bowers Knowledge System, and opportunities for community and questions.
You can participate at the level that works for you.
