Consultations / Dr. Mark Bowers

Let's talk about
what matters.

You don't need to know the diagnosis or have the perfect question before asking for guidance. A conversation can bring the pieces into focus.

Sometimes the most helpful next step is a better understanding of the question.
Science, not shame.

A conversation with purpose

Support for the people who support someone else.

These conversations are for caregivers, parents, family members, and adults who want to better understand and support someone they care about. That person might be a child, teenager, or adult.

We work from your perspective, questions, and experiences. The person being discussed does not need to attend, and this is not an evaluation of that person.

Choose the kind of help you need

Where would you like to start?

Select the situation that fits best. We'll suggest a pathway without locking you into it.

What's on your mind?

This guide is for navigation, not clinical triage. A consultation is not a substitute for emergency or crisis care.

Questions we can explore

Many reasons to reach out.

These are common topics, but the conversation follows the questions that matter to you.

Parenting & family support

Discuss communication, regulation, sibling dynamics, and ways to respond with greater understanding.

School planning & IEPs

Think through school concerns, supports, accommodations, or an upcoming IEP meeting.

Reviewing an outside report

Bring an evaluation from another provider. We can discuss its findings, recommendations, and unanswered questions.

Supporting an adult loved one

Explore the needs of an adult child, sibling, or family member living with disability or neurodevelopmental differences.

Thinking about an evaluation

Clarify what questions testing might answer. Any formal evaluation would be a separate appointment.

Professionals & teams

Explore a professional question, team collaboration, training, or an organizational presentation.

A different level of support

Not every question needs an appointment.

If a live conversation isn't what you need right now, there are other ways to begin.

Questions people often have

A little clarity up front.

Will the consultation result in a diagnosis?

No. A consultation uses your description, questions, and existing information to discuss support and next steps. We are not evaluating the child or adult being discussed. If testing is warranted, we can discuss which type may be useful, but that evaluation would take place during a separate appointment.

Does my child or loved one need to attend?

No. These consultations are generally for caregivers or other adults seeking guidance. The conversation is based on your perspective. Older siblings or other family members may participate when appropriate.

Can we discuss an IEP or an evaluation from another provider?

Yes. School planning, IEP questions, and reviewing outside evaluation reports are appropriate consultation topics. We can discuss what the information means and what questions or supports to consider next.

Is this a custody or legal consultation?

No. These consultations are not for divorce, custody, parenting-time disputes, legal opinions, or forensic matters. The focus is understanding and supporting a loved one.

Will I receive something in writing afterward?

Most consultations include a written summary of the discussion, recommendations, and next steps. The exact format depends on the consultation.

Are consultations available in person?

Dr. Bowers' individual consultations through this service are virtual. In-person evaluation options are handled separately through Brighton Center for Neurodevelopment.

Can I use insurance?

This is a fee-for-service practice; we don't bill insurance directly. We accept HSA/FSA payments as described on the current consultation page, but eligibility depends on your plan. Out-of-network reimbursement is not guaranteed. Ask your insurer about benefits and documentation requirements before scheduling.

What if I live in another state?

Virtual clinical services depend on professional jurisdiction and suitability. You can review the current PSYPACT map ↗ and confirm eligibility with the office before scheduling.
